Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge

Free and open to the public, Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge celebrated its inception in 2009 and has more than 7,000 acres of forest lands that shelter a magnificent old-growth, hardwood, bottom-land forest. Home to over 216 resident bird species, you’ll want to come back every season to see new feathered friends which migrate between Canada and South America each year. Gardens of the American Rose Center

Gardens of the American Rose Center

This spectacular 118-acre wooded tract in Shreveport is home to the national headquarters of the American Rose Society and is the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses! The American Rose Center features more than 65 individual rose gardens and 20,000 rosebushes, with a variety of companion plants, sculptures and fountains. April – October, (318) 938-5534.

In Springtime, a drive to Mrs. Lees Daffodil Garden is a must. People can stroll leisurely along the riverfront on the 2,500 ft. long Boardwalk Promenade, which is illuminated each night by massive light pillars, or sit comfortably in unique seating areas and enjoy the view with twinkling lights overhead.
