Free and open to the public, Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge celebrated its inception in 2009 and has more than 7,000 acres of forest lands that shelter a magnificent old-growth, hardwood, bottom-land forest. Home to over 216 resident bird species, you’ll want to come back every season to see new feathered friends which migrate between Canada and South America each year. This spectacular 118-acre wooded tract in Shreveport is home to the national headquarters of the American Rose Society and is the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses! In Springtime, a drive to Mrs. Lees Daffodil Garden is a must. Each year in February and March, this 816-acre tract of land just west of Marshall is drastically transformed by millions of golden daffodils blooming along a four-mile trail that meanders around two lakes, between wooded valleys, and around a replica pioneer log cabin., (903) 845-5780 or visit www.daffodilgarden.com.
People can stroll leisurely along the riverfront on the 2,500 ft. long Boardwalk Promenade, which is illuminated each night by massive light pillars, or sit comfortably in unique seating areas and enjoy the view with twinkling lights overhead.
